University of Wisconsin – Stout Waterski Recovers From Boat Catastrophe

Every week we release a digest of team news, announcements, or updates that have been sent our way to help spread amazing news of our teams from across the nation! Did you and your team miss out this week? Check the submission guide and submit your news for next week!

University of Wisconsin – Stout Waterski Team Gets a New Boat!

UW Stout sunken 1998 MalibuOn November 2nd, 2016 UW Stout Waterski Team’s boat, a 1998 Malibu Response, hit a submerged object while going 25mph. The collision ripped out the drive shaft and bent the rudder up and the Malibu sunk in 9ft of water. No one was hurt, and thankfully, the team had insurance because the boat was claimed a total loss. The loss of the boat was a huge set back for the team.

After six months of fundraising and lots of very generous donations the team was able to buy a new boat! On Saturday April 7th a few dedicated UW Stout team members made the 12 hour drive down to Tennessee to buy a 2009 Ski Nautique 196. This Nautique is equipped with Zero Off and only has 395 hours on it. This newer boat is a huge step forward for the UW Stout Water Ski Team!

UW Stout 2009 NautiqueThe UW Stout Waterski Team (Facebook) is very grateful to all who were kind enough to donate, and UW Stout could not have purchased the 2009 Ski Nautique replacement boat without all the donations and help!
