Lauren Morgan of Team USA Leaps to Gold at 2016 World University Championships

The women’s jump final was the second to last event at the 2016 World University Championships and Team USA had three skiers jumping in the final: Jenna Morgan who skis in the NCWSA for the University of Alabama, Brittany Greenwood who skis for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and Lauren Morgan who skis for Florida Southern College. Lauren Morgan is the NCWSA women’s jump record holder and defending World University Championship jump gold medalist.

Women's Jump PodiumAfter the preliminary rounds seeded the finals, Lauren Morgan would jump last in the finals and all it took was a single jump to win gold as she out jumped the finals field at 153 feet on her first jump and called it a tournament. The other two Team USA jumpers ended up in 10th (Brittany Greenwood) and 12th place (Jenna Morgan) for the women’s jump event.

Giannina Bonnemann jumped to a silver medal (after earning a gold in women’s trick). Giannina skis in the NCWSA at University of Louisiana at Lafayette and skied worlds for Team Germany. Earning the bronze medal was Maria Luisa Pajni of Team Italy.

Congratulations to all the medalists and to Lauren Morgan for defending her gold medal in women’s jump!
