| ASU claims Western Regional Championships |
|
The 2008 Western Region Championships concluded with a familiar face on top, as ASU was able to take another victory despite having Storm Selsor and Kevin Melnuck absent representing team USA in China. Cal Poly San Luis Obispbo provided the suprise of the tournament, overtaking Chico to finish in second place, the best ever finish for the Mustangs. San Diego State finished in fourth and UC Davis took the fifth spot. This is the first year that two wildcard spots exist for D2, and the Western Region earned one based on the cumulative finish of last year's D2 teams. There were three lead changes during the men's jump event, with Sacramento State holding the spot at the begining of the event and host UC Los Angeles taking it midway through. In the end UC San Diego was able to pull out the sixth and final spot by a slim 85 points. 2008 Western Regional Championships |
