Missouri State Wins Wilcard Spot

Congratulations to the Missouri State Bears who dominated todays virtual wildcard tournament.  11 teams were simulated into a mock tournament using the new NCWSA rankings and scored under NCWSA rules.  Each region sent their top 3 schools who did not already qualify at Regionals except the South Central who only had 2 available.  In the end Missouri State was pciked as the final and 22nd team that will compete at the 2008 NCWSA Nationals October 16-18 at Firebird Lake in CHandler, AZ.

In individual mock results Sara Haynes-Swearingen (ARK) won womens slalom with 2 @ 28off.  Peter Karempelis (UGA) won mens slalom with 5.5 @ 35 off.  Mark Cassidy tricked 2265 to win mens tricks.  Christine Madden won two womens events by winning tricks with 1560 and jump with 82 feet. In the last event, mens jump, Mark Cassidy claimed another victory jumping 133 for the title. 

Overall Illinois won 6 of the 8 events with individual overall included and they won the womens team title but in the end it was Missouri States very strong womens team that won by 1300 points that sent them to wilcard victory by  815 points over Wisconsin-Stout.  Stout edged out Illinois by just 35 for 2nd place. 

Once again congratulations to Missouri State for earning the 22nd Nationals spot with tremedous skiing througout the season.
