The University of Nevada - Reno has won the Wesern Region team development scholarship for 2009. UNR began competition in the NCWSA last spring, and was able to compete with a full team for the first time at the WCWSA Regionals in Bakersfield in October. UNR is currently working to establish a regular practice site. They are also working on building their own supply of team equipment. Currently UNR relies on other programs in the Western Region to loan them jump skis, helmets, suits, and trick skis. The $1500 team development scholarship will be utilized to help provide consistent practice opportunities for team members and a supply of team equipment for their skiers to use.
