The American Water Ski Educational Foundation (AWSEF) Scholarship and Financial Aid Committee has announced the awarding of six college scholarships in the amount of $1,500 each for 2008. The Correct Craft Scholarship was awarded to John Roberts (Big Rock, Ill). A junior at Northern Illinois University majoring in mechanical engineering, his career objective after obtaining a Masters or Ph.D., is to work as a professional engineer. Roberts reestablished the NIU water ski team, organized all team events, and served as president in 2007-2008. He has competed in water ski events since the age of 8. Andrew P. Martin (Eaton, Ohio), a student at Huntington University majoring in computer science and dma-animation, has been awarded the David Kammerer Memorial Scholarship. He is a Midwest barefoot competitor and served as the video manager for the Barefoot Regionals and chief video manager for the Barefoot Nationals. Martin’s goal is to own a computer animation production studio and produce feature-length movies. The AWSEF scholarship programs are supported by contributions from individuals, corporations and families that have set up an endowment fund for a scholarship in memory of a loved one. For more information on how to fund a scholarship, contact the AWSEF. The AWSEF, parent organization of the Water Ski Hall of Fame and Museum, was founded in 1968 as a non-profit foundation dedicated to the preservation of the traditions of one of America's most popular family recreational activities and to the encouragement of and education in the safe enjoyment of water skiing.
