Midwest Alumni Regional Podium

2016 Fall Underway and Upcoming Tournaments: 9/3/2016 – 9/4/2016

And here we go!!! If you weren’t paying attention, it is now September and that means that many universities are back in session and it is time for the fall collegiate ski season. This past weekend the Midwest held the second ever Midwest Alumni Regionals at Waters Edge in Wilmington, IL and the University of Alabama hosted the first collegiate ski tournament of the fall!

First we will talk alumni….

Starting dock at 2016 Midwest Alumni RegionalsThe Midwest put together an alumni tournament for the second consecutive year; unfortunately the other regions did not get things together to host alumni tournaments this year. Hopefully in future years more volunteers will exist in all regions to help organize and coordinate these massively popular tournaments. The Midwest Alumni Regional tournament was hosted at Waters Edge in Wilmington, IL for the second straight year. The buzz stemming from the tournament was overwhelmingly positive and everyone enjoyed themselves. This year a “Futures” team was added to allow all the kids of alumni to compete on a single team, and they out performed several alumni teams; these kids will be superstars once they get to college!

Jump crash at 2016 Midwest Alumni RegionalsEveryone had a great time, but what you really want to know is which alumni teams stepped up their games to grab the hardware, so here are the results for the 2016 Midwest Alumni Regional tournament (the full list of team placements can be found at the end of this post):

  1. Purdue University
  2. Missouri State University
  3. Iowa State University

And coming up this weekend….

As many skiers head back to school this week and upcoming weekend several teams host information sessions and ski days to recruit new members. This means that tournaments in many regions will begin in a week, but this weekend Florida Southern College will host a tournament in the Eastern Region. Good luck to all those participating in the tournament and happy recruiting to all those gathering new members for the Fall 2016 season!
